Throughout the years, Pi Phis and friends of the Foundation have established scholarship and other endowed funds in order to ensure continued funding for projects near and dear to them. Whether through Undergraduate Scholarships, Graduate Fellowships, Alumnae Continuing Education Scholarships, or leadership and other restricted purpose funds, these donors have made the commitment to assist future generations of Pi Phis and have left a legacy that will keep giving, long after they’ve gone.

While endowed funds are most often established by individuals, alumnae clubs and collegiate chapters (or a combination thereof) can also establish endowed funds.

Naming an endowed fund after a fellow Pi Phi, a loved one, or to establish your own legacy, is a wonderful way to permanently commemorate a life-long love of Pi Phi, dedication to scholarship or personal acheivement, or a desire to help others . The roster of named funds established at Pi Beta Phi Foundation is a powerful testament to the strength and endurance of the Pi Phi experience. Endowed funds can be established anonymously, as well.

Considerations for establishing an endowed fund:

  • The minimum gift to establish an endowed fund is $50,000 and there is no maximum. Endowed principal is permanently restricted and held in trust to be conservatively invested; the interest and dividends yielded by the permanently restricted funds generate the annual award. The larger the amount that establishes the endowed fund, the larger the annual award that the fund will provide.
  • Endowed funds can be established with gifts of cash or appreciated securities, payable outright or pledged over a three-year period, or can be established through a planned gift such as a will bequest, life insurance gift, charitable remainder trust or other estate planning tools.
  • Should you desire to establish an endowed fund through a planned gift, please do notify the foundation so that we can ensure we are able to execute your wishes as you have outlined in your estate documents. By remembering Pi Beta Phi Foundation through a planned gift, you will also become a member of the Marianne Reid Wild Society of Pi Beta Phi Foundation.
