Frequently Asked Questions
Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, the Pi Beta Phi Foundation is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, the Foundation accepts Visa and MasterCard. To help us spread our dollars further, we suggest a minimum credit card gift of $25.

What does my gift support?

As indicated by our mission statement, the Pi Beta Phi Foundation is committed to fund programs that promote the intellectual, ethical and leadership development of the members of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity and, through its philanthropic efforts, to benefit the larger society. Given this mission, your gift could serve a number of purposes. Here are some possibilities:

  • Current grants to the fraternity fund programs to promote leadership development, wellness and safety, and life skills
  • The Foundation also supports the Fraternities literacy programs including the Champions are Readers® (CAR) program and First Book® both of which benefit the larger society.
  • Through the Emma Harper Turner Fund, the Foundation provides monthly gifts or one-time emergency grants to Pi Phi members in extreme financial need.
  • Our scholarship program grows each year. As of 2009, our scholarship suite includes approximately 70 undergraduate scholarships, five graduate fellowships, and four continuing education scholarships.

Can I make my gift online?

Yes! You can make your gift through our secure website today with a Visa or MasterCard. Click here for more information.

Why is there an envelope in every newsletter and mailing?

Our goal is to keep an open line of communication with our donors. While we appreciate receiving frequent gifts, we do not expect every donor to make multiple gifts. Some prefer to make smaller gifts throughout the year; others prefer making monthly gifts, or prefer sending one a year.

I know it says the deadline for all scholarship applications is February 15. Can I get an extension?

The Foundation only provides extensions under the most extreme circumstances which can be documented.

When are scholarship applications available?

The scholarship application process opens in early fall for the following academic year.
